On the 8 December 2005, Te Ara the Encyclopedia of New Zealand and the New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage hosted the group at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
- 9:00 am - Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand. The experience so far; current trends in use, and looking forward. Jock Phillips, Te Ara, Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
- 10:30 am - Morning tea
- 11:00 am - Dictionary of Sydney. Ian Johnson, Archaeological Computing Laboratory & TimeMap Project, University of Sydney.
- 11:45 am - Encyclopedia of Melbourne. Andrew Brown-May, Encyclopaedia of Melbourne
- 12:30 pm - Lunch
- 1:15 pm - South Seas and Indigenous Queensland Cultural Atlas. Paul Turnbull, Head of the School of Arts, Media and Culture at Griffith University, Brisbane.
- 2:00 pm - Open Session for Project Showcases. This was interrupted by the fire drill.
- 2:45 pm - Afternoon tea.
- 3:15 pm - From the User Perspective: Personas. Discussion led by Jonathan O'Donnell and Tessa Copland. Statistics New Zealand had found them very effective, and Nicky McCreanor gave us some great insights.
- 4:15 pm - Identification of issues and topics for Friday breakout sessions.
- Evening - Dinner.

- 11:00 am - Aboriginal Language Database (Web Interface Issues). Michael Walsh, Department of Linguistics, University of Sydney.
- 11:30 am - Telling stories in interactive environments. Elias Wyber, Murdoch University, Perth.
